Comment on A Cabal of Paris

  1. Naturally Mousqueton will do anything for his adored master :-)

Yes, poor Aramis - completely Teefless, not a harmful bone in his body. Clearly he was only being discreet in seeking out privacy behind that curtain to help the lady with her spiritual difficulties.

(All the scheming, plotting and conniving is going to do him a lot more harm than all the affairs he's not really engaging in, just letting other people think so for cover).

Cunning Plans - yippee! Will A Really Big Hat be involved, or will it be even more sophisticated and cunning than that? Is it possible to be even more sophisticated and cunning than that???

    1. You won't believe it, but I haven't come up with a way to work in A Really Big Hat into the scheme! But cloaks do get a mention.

He was probably acting as the lady's confessor, discreet almost-abbé that he is.

I have to admit though, before anyone gets too excited: the Plot doesn't play a key role in the story, which is all about how Athos is the best at everything, and also very Noble & Proud.

      1. Well, we'll just assume the Really Big Hat because that is a fundamental part of all Cunning Plans.

how Athos is the best at everything, and also very Noble & Proud

He is, he really is, and this is going to have me rolling around like a cat in catnip. He is so noble and so proud and so handsome and so clever and so appealingly melancholic and with hints of a heartbreaking secret in his dark past which has deeply wounded his sensitive heart and so much better than anyone else at everything. Did you know he's ambidextrous and can fence as well with his left hand as his right, even when wounded in his dominant arm? :-)

        1. I'm sure they do wear Big Hats when they sneak around at the crack of dawn, for reasons.

All of the qualities you've listed are explicitly or implicitly mentioned, and now this:

Did you know he's ambidextrous and can fence as well with his left hand as his right

becomes Important at a pivotal point in the story :D
