   Athos laughs scornfully at madame la duchesse and her feminine wiles.

   Aramis is very sensitive with regard to Marie's letters. He might overreact a leetle bit, though. It's not like him to be so emo.

   Poor Descartes. He was at the wrong place at the wrong time, Marie saw her chance, the poor boy woke up one morning and found himself knee-deep in a cabal.

         Probably rethought his entire philosophical oeuvre and drank a lot of Anjou wine. And swore never to return to Paris ever again.
