Yup yup, I'm pulling out all the stops on this one. Arguably, this is Peter's absolute breaking point in this universe, so despite Tony doing his best to be there for him Peter still struggles with expressing what's going on in his head and ends up still suffering alone. Even though he knows it doesn't help to hurt himself, he's just really tired and angry at himself and his own guilt.
And yeah. The flashback with MJ was meant to parallel/foreshadow one of them literally not being there to open the time capsule. That won't be the last you see of the whole time capsule concept, I promise. I hope it makes you bawl when it comes back in Act 5 >:)
