Comment on A Cabal of Paris

  1. Okay I also forgot to remark upon the this:

//“And you don’t want to spend the night in Vincennes,” he had added with a faint smile. “I could hardly raise an army by the morrow to spring you from prison in time.” // Ahahaha! Excellent gross foreshadowing!

    And also the this:

//"Messenger in a love affair? This is not an undertaking we would have ever expected from you, Monsieur Athos. Like your namesake, the Greek mountain, you are said to have never been climbed by a woman.” Several of the courtiers laughed. Athos’ expression didn’t change; only his gaze darkened.//
This is so embarrassing! Everyone knows he's a gay disaster!

    1. Ha ha yes ironic foreshadowing is always good fun! And Aramis speaketh the truth: at this point he wouldn't be able to raise an army overnight. It'll take a few years and some strategic friendships.

As you pointed out before: the King shouldn't be casting the first stone where the gay is concerned! But let's say he's mocking Athos' celibacy, because, like d'Art, he assumes Athos is a virgin :D
