  1. LOL! that's when you know the muse knew it all along but just wanted to give you the reveal of Gibbs' shifter-hood as well ;)

Yep, Muse must always know! I've always written that way. I just start writing and get images, like movies. I often don't know where a story is going, but when I get to the end, all the pieces seem to fall nicely into place. I have to be good to Muse as Muse has (almost always) come through for me. *G*

      1. the writing process is so interesting and so varied. for me, there have been stories where I swear, the muse just dictated the whole entire thing to me and I couldn't even sleep because the voice just keeps whispering things to me that I need to take down. kind of like dictation? and others that comes in drips and drabs. and yet other stories where the story is sometimes built around a song or a scene, a picture, or even a feeling LOL. it's so weird how that is. but I agree, the constant is always: be good to the muse. don't abuse her, listen to her, and things should work out :D

It is fascinating...all the different ways that stories come about. And yes, muses tend to be pampered critters. For some reason, I think of my Muse as a "he"...although it seems that most muses are "she". Creative litter buggers, aren't they? *G*

          1. muses definitely tend to be pampered and cosseted. I don't think a muse has to be any specific gender necessarily. I think of mine as a 'she' and she's kind of bloodthirsty. she has some violent tendencies and loves to snack on bits of plot bunnies :D we started calling her "Black Widow" and I think she likes it. but yes. creative little buggers. we wouldn't have them any other way!

Oops, typo! Yes, I meant "little buggers". Must be time to clean the cat pans! LOL

Too funny that your muse gets a nickname of "Black Widow".

Mine is just "Muse". My Muse seems to enjoy a challenge. So even though I'm not into MPreg, Shapeshifters, vampires, etc., Muse really came through for Visions and Healed By Moonlight. And many other stories before these.

              1. :D

yes, well. with a muse called Black Widow, I think nobody should be surprised that I don't write a lot of fluff ;)

I think it's great to work outside of our comfort zone and I'm glad you did this last year. I also love how supportive this fandom is, because it seems even if I write the weirdest things, they're always so supportive and encouraging. my BB last year didn't have a lick of NCIS at all, just the characters. a complete Hollywood Actors AU! LOL. and strange thing was, moving them out of NCIS made me write probably (imo) my fluffiest story yet :D ah well.. keep on keeping on and may we all keep writing outside our comfort zones and writing more stories this year! :D

There is a lot to love about fanfic! For every story posted there is someone who enjoys it...no matter how weird it is. I enjoy AU stories. It's fun to take the characters out of NCIS and let them play elsewhere for a while. Just as long as we put them back when we're done. *G*

I do seem to be seeing more AUs/ARs and maybe even more crossovers. I think a lot of that has to do with Tony leaving in the series. Although, in my happy little slash world, there is no Tali. I just ignore mentions on the series - stick my fingers in my ears...LOL. Tony is just always reassigned to another post, or moves over to the FBI. Or with AUs, he can be anything. I have no plans to stop writing Tony...and I'm sure there are many other writers who feel the same way.

                  1. i agree, I think we're seeing more AUs because Tony left and whether we're Tibbs or the dreaded Tiva, we still love our Tony. I'm not planning on stopping writing Tony either. I think I may also enjoy AUs more now because we need that sort of fun twist on things at times. I swore I wouldn't touch Tali with a ten foot pole but I have 2 series with explanations for her and a third in the works LOL.

Yep, I said I'd never write Tali, but wrote the explanation of how she could be Tony and Ziva's child without them ever sleeping together. I said I'd never write MPreg, but I did - alien MPreg, because that's the only way I can even deal with it. And I said I'd never write shapeshifters or vampires, but managed that, too.
