Revolution??? I think I know what show you're talking about but that's actually NOT what I meant. Wasn't that a two season TV show??? I think my parents liked that one. I meant an actual movie that's on Netflix called Into the Forest. I checked and its still on there. I think its based off of a book. Its about two sisters trying to survive in a post-apocalyptic world where the power grid went down. Its slightly in the future and all that's ever revealed is that there was some kind of failure in one power station that took down the whole national grid and it never comes back by the time the movie ends months later. While their father is originally around, he ultimately dies in an accident and they have to adapt to a powerless world. They're mostly shielded from the chaos where they live in the woods, but they have their own personal struggles and a few not-so personal ones.
Actually in most shows I've seen when the Earth gets hit by a CME (Coronal Mass Ejection, fancy name for a powerful solar flare) powerful enough to wipe out all technology (and I'm a MAJOR SciFi fan), the CME would also destroy the atmosphere or at least the magnetosphere and cause the end of the world. I really like shows like that. The show Heroes Reborn focused on the main characters attempting to prevent such an Apocalypse from happening and succeeding in the end. Bit more complicated than that but still. The movie Knowing had such a flare destroy the world in the end. I guess it depends on the power of the flare, but most depictions in popular culture have such an event ending the whole world. And that could really happen if we get hit by a flare that's powerful enough you know. In one of my favorite TV shows the main characters had to prevent such a flare from wiping out all life on the planet they were based on. Involved a really cool plan using a spaceship to deflect the flare and it worked.
I would have just linked the wiki or IMDb but thanks for the synopsis. It also doesn't really matter if it wasn't intended as criticism because it read that way. And AGAIN. It was mentioned in my A/N that I flexed the science because IT'S A 3K PIECE OF AU FICTION. It was a gift for a friend it doesn't have to be perfect.
