Comment on Year of Fallen Angels

Thank you so so so much for this wonderful and detailed comment. This was exactly what I needed to let me know that I'm doing what I intend to do with this fic.

Yeah, Tim wanting his dad and feeling like he can't have that kind of connection and acceptance and fatherly love was very painful. He's lost so much, and he feels like he never got anything back. But as he's about to learn, he just doesn't understand how very much his new family loves him, because they aren't always good at showing it (with the possible exception of Dick and Alfred).

I definitely believe that Bruce loves his kids very deeply, he just isn't good at showing it. It's part of the awkwardness of how he's like their drill sergeant in training and commander when they're out in the field, and then he has trouble showing a more gentle and loving side in private. Also because he lost his own father at a young age, and as wonderful as Alfred is, there was always a bit of distance between them because of the nature of the employer/employee relationship. But the gentle and loving side of Bruce is definitely there. He just needs to learn how to reveal it. And Tim needs to figure out that it's genuine when "Brucie" is panicking over him and trying to comfort him, not just an act for the people around them.

I'm so glad that my characterization feels right and makes sense. My uncertainty about the characterization is the only reason I'm not writing like a two thousand words of this story every day. I'm still kind of feeling my way around the characters.

I love h/c fic so much, dear lord, it's my favorite thing and it's all I want to read or write, like, ever. I'm glad I'm scratching that itch for you as I'm also scratching mine. :D
