        I do ASL too so I was happy to see a fic with it. Also I love the concept but as you can see I articulated quite well at 1am in the morning

            I presume that the use of ASL should be regarded in the same light as a subtitle or dub?

              Maybe? He uses ASL instead of talking. While he is physically able to talk, he is terrified of it. It is a lot like being afraid of heights, so you physically freeze up if you find yourself high up. He uses ASL to talk, unless alone with either his brother and/or sister, currently. Sometimes I do use italics to represent what he signed or wrote, because it would be hard to describe the sign(s) or who they are talking to wouldn't understand ASL, but I want the audience to understand. I don't know if that answers your question?
