It really goes to show she's a Griffindor though, doesn't it? A true Ravenclaw, or even Slytherin, would have known that joining Ravenclaw would be the most subtle choice.
I thought so much about this when I was writing the story! When I was doing some memory refresh research, I came across the "Hatstall" article on Pottermore which explained that Hermione spent four minutes trying to decide whether she wanted to be in Ravenclaw or Gryffindor, and ultimately chose Gryffindor because she thought the qualities more admirable.
It made me wonder if she ultimately grew into those qualities or if they were always there to begin with, or if the house nutured her into those qualities. Would growing up being friends with Harry and Ron who were (somewhat) natural Gryffindors make her more inclined to courageous and brave?
If she grew into the Gryffindor qualities, if she went into Ravenclaw or Hufflepuff, would she stick out like a sore thumb? She never seemed to have much patience for anyone from any other house.
