Comment on More Than One Way to Skin a Cat

  1. Petunia just say her 11yo child interacting with a homeless-looking, hasn't showered in a while, stranger. She's rightfully terrified. She knows her son is mentally handicapped, and she has probably drilled the 'do not talk to strangers' into him with extreme insistence.
She knows there's a magical world full of people who mean her nephew harm.
Dudley is being punished because she doesn't know how else to handle her own fear, and because he just gave her a massive fright.

    1. Not what I meant. Why is Harry being punished by being forced to live Dudley's life? And where is little Dudley? Where is little Harry, for that matter?

      1. Oh dear.
Thank you for reading, and thanks for all the reviews, but--
I'm not sure this is the right fic for you? This is wholesome crack. A time travel fix-it like you've never seen it before, and a Sevitus. For Harry and Severus both, it's the chance they never got to just be a kid.
Nobody is being punished, any more than life is punishing you or me with our respective existences.
Duchess, this is _fanfiction_. If my characters' situations make you uncomfortable, perhaps read something else?
        Sincerely and with love, AverageFish

        1. I don't know what Sevitus means. Okay, crack fic, that's okay. So, stop looking for rhyme or reason and just enjoy. I can do that. It's hard for me sometimes, but I can. LOL

          1. Severitus arose as a specific challenge in 2002, and today it still means a story wherein Snape is Harry's biological parent.
Sevitus is more flexible and only mandates that Snape take on a fatherly role, while not necessarily being directly related.
I'm not going to bash any characters in any fic because I don't believe in painting people black and white. Please don't bash characters in your reviews. I'm trying to let them have a better second go at things.
While there is a rhyme and reason to everything, I can't tell the reader what the narrator doesn't know. In this case Snape doesn't know or want to know why the time travel happened. I do hope you manage to enjoy this story anyway.
I'm glad you replied. Thank you.

        2. Thats a bit of a overreaction, he was only wondering if there was some in-story reason for what feels like a cosmic punishment. That doesn't mean they've got a issue with the story.

          1. This person left me a lot of reviews. My response was based on more than just this one. Thank you for jumping to their defence, though. It's good to know someone is looking out for my commenters.
