  1. And so it begins...

(I’ve lost count of the times I’ve reread this )

    1. Yay, thank you! :D

(On a related note, I'm not sure this fic is compatible with the new Turk designs for the remake. Poor Tess, how could she possibly handle so much cleavage on top of everything else.)

          1. So I binged this story again last night and I just find it beautiful. There’s a strange innocence to this story when you read it after reading the sequel. Here Tess is literally lost and has all this spitfire in her and it’s those bad ass sci-fi stories where they’re just loads of fun and she’s doing so much action. While the sequel is where we were hit with the heavy emotional stuff and less action and it’s a beautiful contrast because of how it shows growth in the story and as well as in Tess. I just always find myself coming back to this cause seeing adventure bad ass Tess with the action is loads of fun and then just seeing how she was in the first book just really makes you realize how trauma and shitty predicaments really change someone. But slowly we see the old Tess coming back later on in the other works

            1. Aww, thanks for coming back to this! :D Yeah, while this one is hardly fluff, it definitely has more going on in the adventure department. Will Tess ever return to the person she was at the start of this story? Probably not 100%, but I'd like to think she'll end up much closer to this than her depressed self.

              1. What era is Tess from? She said her parents died in the earthquake of ‘72 but we all know she didn’t mean 1972 lol and then she also stated how Gaian technology is about 50-60 years behind earth. If that’s the time gap of the technological difference then kudos to her for being able to manage on Gaia. The lore and universe in this story is crazy and you miss it when your read this story for first time. It’s after the second read you see all the cool Easter egg sci fi details you may not have thought about or picked up on

                1. She's from 2072. At least I'm pretty sure I meant it to be 2072 - its been a while since I figured all this out. X) It sure ain't 1972, haha.

But the time weirdness between the two worlds means it's not a 1-to-1 match in years, hence the 50-60 year tech gap. I had the math all done, but can't remember the details of it anymore. Wonder if I can still find it somewhere... In any case, good thing she had Reeve to help her figure out the basics in those first weeks, huh? ;) I had a lot of fun sprinkling in all those little details - glad you noticed. :D

                  1. What year was Tess born ? I’m surprised she doesn’t think of these time differences a lot. I feel like it would be like if you were to wake up 50 years in the past. I would not be unfazed like Tess lol

                    1. Pretty sure I had the math written down somewhere... but three computer changes later, some of my files seem to be lost, or I just put them somewhere I can't find them. ._. The best I can do is around 2050, so yeah, quite a big tech jump there. But I don't think she normally thinks of it as being 50-60 years in the past, more like the tech level is just baked into all that's weird about Gaia. Old tech isn't so bad compared to marbles that do magic and creepy shapeshifting aliens and chocobos. X)
