Comment on A Villain by Any Other Name (Is Still A Villain)

  1. I don't even know if I commented in the last chapter!

    Shame on me.

But anyway POOR JANE! UGH.Mad at FG.

But FG does the same too right? She is also Fae so she has to cut and dye her hair, shave her teeth. And Honestly I don't want to know what she does to their wings!

Also I know Mal has horns...but I guess I should ask if Jane has specific traits of her kind of fae? Like Mal's Horns are for her species of fae, Jane I don't think has any horns I think but maybe her kind have other similarities and differences to Mal's kind?

    Also.

Is the title litterally talking about Adam? For a while I thought it was about the VKS like "it doesn't matter what they do or call themselves they will always be Villian Kids". But now Adam comes to mind soooo....

    1. Rest assured, FG does the same to herself! It's not just Jane who's suffering in hiding her fae qualities. Jane doesn't have to dye her hair (she's glad her hair is more of a natural looking color, although there may be some shimmering highlights to it it's not as easy to see when it's short.)

Thankfully Jane's type of fae, at least in my version, have a sort of shimmery retractable wing? Like, sort of the kind that disappears into the skin of their backs in shiny lines when retracted and they don't have to worry about having holes for them because they phase right through.

Jane's features are much more subtle, full voluminous glittery or shiny streaked hair (easier to miss it when it's in a short bob), the pointy tipped ears, the sharp gleaming teeth, silvery lines on her back to indicate she has wings retracted into her skin, her gaze is far too knowing for a teenager (and has always been far too knowing for her age growing up), and a glittering shimmer to her skin (much harder to hide). All in all, her traits make her look more angelic and ethereal or otherworldly, so when she isn't being confined like this she is very clearly n o t human.

      1. Got cha, had to double check just to help differ between the two types.

        1. I forgot to mention two things, like heightened senses of smell/hearing/sight for fae, but also just general gracefulness, both of which are a common trait for all fae types in this story. I know, first time you meet Jane she's just tripped, but something with her heightened senses caused her to trip, you just don't know what it is yet.

    2. OKAY HOLD UP. THAT'S BRILLIANT!

I hadn't even thought about my title like that before, my line of thinking with the title aligned with what you were thinking with the VK's always being identified as the villains no matter what they do that proves they aren't villains.

You can call yourself a hero but still ultimately be a villain, and I think that is very much in line with what Adam is and how he sees himself and his actions. I didn't even realize there was a completely other way to view the title, and I love that you've brought this up! It fits so well!
