Yes, Clara will date other people before she and Lex get together. I said from the start that she and Lex won't even start dating until she's at least legal, and I want to make sure Clara has enough experience with relationships that when she and Lex get together, it'll be a more even footing.
Ooh, nice pick! I'm not sure if I quite see her as my Clara, but she's definitely gorgeous!
And yes, Clara is largely oblivious to her own beauty but only because she's been looked down on by pretty much everybody for so long that she can't see how beautiful she is now. Like when she was younger, her features were out of proportion and too big for her face, and with the sheer height and the ill-fitting men's hand-me-downs, she wasn't exactly the prettiest of girls. Clara has been picking apart the flaws of her face for so long and comparing it to Lana and finding it wanting that even after she grew into her features, she still finds herself falling short of the ideal. As for the other students, she's long been an outcast and gotten so used to hiding herself that no one really noticed how beautiful she's become. It's only those who see Clara for the first time as she is now who know how stunning she is - like Lex.
Of course, thanks to the recent changes to her wardrobe and her attitude as well after making actual friends, people are starting to notice that Clara is beautiful. But she's still taller than most guys in the school and considered a loser by most of her fellow students, and so despite them realizing how pretty she is, they're not about to admit to crushing on her.
How do you picture her wardrobe being? Like just casual t-shirt's, jeans, boots with some nice blouses thrown in? You should do a pinterest board. When you do Red-K Clara I feel like Clara would wear more risque things in the sense that they would be shorter and form-fitting, heels, satin,silk, darker color clothing. Which would be quite a contrast to her down-to-earth farm girl wardrobe.
Bridget has the cheekbones to die for but Blake has the more youthful look that better suits Clara, I think. Maybe a mix of all three?
Clara's wardrobe is definitely casual, tees and jeans but they fit well and absolutely no flannel, now that she no longer has to wear Jonathan's hand-me-downs. The only dressy thing she owns is the blouse and skirt that her parents got her for Christmas, since she doesn't want to spend the money her grandfather gave her on things that she won't get much use out of. And yes, Red-K Clara will definitely wear clothes that will make Jonathan reach for the shotgun.
I'd love to do a pinterest board for the fic, but I unfortunately just don't have much time for it. I know how easy it is to lose hours on pinterest, and I can't quite spare that...
You could incorporate this into your fic. But I was thinking that maybe Clara could shop at goodwill and start altering clothes that she gets there to fit her.
Like, goodwill is such a treasure trove of items and like the nearest city I think in the Smallville universe is grandville which is probably a little bit bigger.
Does Clara know how to sew? I don't remember that but if she does I think it would be a cool idea to have her to start making her own clothes.
Anyway's, just an idea.
But I do like the idea of having Clara have the cheekbones of Bridget Regan, the eyes and eyebrows of Katie Mcgrath and the face shape of Blake Lively. If that makes sense.
Clara unfortunately doesn't know how to alter or sew, really, not enough to make her own clothes. Martha has just enough sewing skills to hem something and mend rips, but that's about it, and so that's what she taught Clara. Plus Clara broke pretty much every sewing needle in the Kent household when she was younger, trying to alter Jonathan's clothes to better fit her, and pretty much gave up after that. Goodwill is a good idea, but for now, after having worn hand-me-downs for so long, I think Clara has a desire for her own clothes to be new. That'll probably change in the future when she discovers vintage stores, but for now, she'll stick to malls and the like. Thank you for the suggestion though!
