There might have been a joke in my head which never made it into the story about WWX being really into Sailor Moon when he was small, and Jiang Cheng forever teasing him about his first crush, so that was possibly simmering at least in the background of my own mind. XD Jiang Cheng was so much fun to write here. I think he's more self-aware than people give him credit for, but the modern setting does help a lot. I think he'd pity himself and loathe himself more in canon-verse, simply because the situation has higher stakes. I got to admit, I'm channeling drama!JC's eye-rolling 'give me strength' energy a fair bit. I think of him as like a rambutan. Or that he feels like a rambutan, like he's soft squishy on the inside and that's too soft to survive, so that's why he's got to be all hairy on the outside. Xichen just felt like a guy of many hidden generally useless talents. I'm sure he knows how to know make maple syrup and can probably morris dance too. A satisfying ending is the best I could hope for, so thank you so much for reading, and, wow, as for writing Xicheng, that's very kind of you to say so! XD We'll see, we'll see.
