Comment on Emergency measures affecting works

  1. Thanks you guys. :)

Question for everyone.....Anyone else have pain in the behind trouble with the
"This work could have adult content. If you proceed you have agreed that you are willing to see such content.
    "Proceed" "Go Back"
If you accept cookies from our site and you choose "Proceed", you will not be asked again during this session (that is, until you close your browser). If you log in you can store your preference and never be asked again." for "mature" and "explicit" rates stories?

It keeps popping up everytime I select and reselect a "M" or "E" rated story even though I agreed with the "Proceed" button already. And now it's doing it everytime I click "New Chapter". :(
    Here's what I mean:
    I pick a "M"or"E" rated story
'Adult Content Message' appears I click "Proceed"
I go into the story and I'm on Chapter 1' but when I click "Next Chapter"
And I get smacked in the face with the "Adult Content Click "Proceed" Or Go Back"" messga all over again just to go on a new chapter. :(

It's been happening since yesterday evening and I sent two gmails to AO3 about this but they haven't responded back yet. :( What Is Going On!? Is Anyone Else Having This Problem Or Is It Just Me!?!?! Can someone help me please. :(

    1. It's in the article above:

"Logged out users will see the adult content warning on every work rated either Mature, Explicit, or Not Rated. This is temporary and will be fixed as soon as possible."

I'm not very tech savvy, but I suppose it's a result of the caching as the cache is only updated once per hour.

When you create an account by following the link in the original post ( request an invitation), you can set your preferences so that you'll never be asked that question again :)
The waiting time for receiving the invite is currently still less than a day! :)

Having an account has some other advantages, too :)

If you can't/don't want to create an account you could try the "Entrire work" button.
This won't get rid of the request when you open a work, but as it shows the whole work on one page, you won't have to open each chapter on its own and so won't be asked again for the confirmation until you re-load the page (or another Mature or Explicit work).

I hope this information was helpful for you and not something you already know about and discarded as not practical for you. :)

      1. Thank you for the info. It was helpful since I don't know any of this. :)
Do you know if I have to redo all my AO3 bookmarks if I create an account since I never had one while using AO3 before? :/

I'm happy that I was able to provide new info!

The web addresses of the AO3 pages don't change, so all your browser bookmarks will work still the same, no matter if you're logged in or not. (Just when you have an account and bookmark a part of your user page while logged in and later you try to access that page from your bookmarks without being logged in, you'll get an information that you don't have the rights to access that page. But you just need to log in then and everything is fine).

You may have read about AO3 bookmarks in the comments or the FAQ (a very helpful page btw); that's a special AO3 feature and has nothing to do with browser bookmarks.

If you have any other questions, please don't hesitate to drop me a comment here, I'll answer as soon as I can! :) (which won't be today anymore though)
