Comment on Me, Myself and Midoriya

  1. Okay throughout the fic ive noticed something and i was wondering if its on purpose? A lot of the characters seem to be like sexist towards Midoriya? Like at that breakfast where they doubted if Midoriya should be the one watching Todoroki citing his omega status as to why. Then aizawa just having to point out an alpha was cornering an omega as if it would have been any better if midoriya wasnt an omega. Of the amount of times people just completely ignore his boundries and privacy like again at that breakfast where Mineta and Kaminari were making comments about Todo and Mido highlighting their genders and not seeming to care if it made them uncomfortable. Idk these small things just keep happening without any of the characters calling it out so i wondered if it was on purpose

    1. And it definitely won't be the last time you're noticing it either. Because you are one of the few to actually bring up the underlying sexism throughout the story so far, and you're not imagining it and it's definitely not unintentional. Now, there are moments (ahead of this chapter so I won't be going into any details) where there are characters who are aware of the sometimes blatant, sometimes harder to notice, sexism going on with Midoriya.

But in regards to Aizawa specifically, since I do have a reason for why he pointed out that Midoriya was an omega as an argument. He's not trying to make it sound as if Midoriya can't handle himself just cuz he's an omega, even if does kind of come of like it. He's just trying to keep everyone safe and since Izuku hasn't presented, Aizawa has to keep an extra eye on him in case he does present on school grounds and if there are potential alpha's around that wouldn't be able to control themselves in case that were to happen.

But for the rest? It's an underlying social thing. The best way to explain why some characters don't react to it or for why they don't realize it is sexist, is to explain the difference between omega women and beta women. Out of the two, omega women are more likely to be looked down upon because they go into heat and thus loose parts of their mental stability for a period of time. They're less likely to get a job because people don't want to give out unnecessary time off or because they could lead to dangers in the workspace, etcetera. Now picture that but with Midoriya, who is a male omega, which is incredibly rare to the point where U.A has never had one attend their school before. So it's a blend of our worlds Male/Female sexism and the a/b/o verse secondary gender version of sexism. Izuku's a man but he falls under the term of omega which for some characters becomes hard to separate, resulting in unintentional or intentional sexism that is sometimes easy to spot and sometimes is so ingrained in the social norms that it gets overlooked.

Sorry for the long rambling 😂 but the topic is so wide and complex and so interesting because it's not as cut and dry as male and female. It's got its own nuances and shit, even for female alpha's, tho I haven't quite gotten around to a dress that in the story, if I ever will since the focus is on Midoriya and Todoroki.

Anyway, thank you so much for reading and commenting 😊 I absolutely love discussing things like this with you all, and it makes me glad to know that people are picking up on it, as well.
