Agreed. I mean, I know there have been times that at least some of the Pokémon Professors of several different regions have met and had opportunity to converse with TR's Meowth. You'd think at least one would try to get some information out of him on how he learned to speak human. He's served as translator for both sides on several occasions (usually involving a Legendary), so he's proved the usefulness of the skill.
I know, right? Plus there occasionally ARE people who react to it, but then just, immediately start ignoring it. Meowth has a skill a lot of people would presumably LOVE to see if they can replicate in any other Pokemon, but nothing is ever done with ii because the status quo must remain, and Team Rocket isn't the focus of the show. Ah well.
One fic I read had a very angry Natu that could talk. The MC immediately did his best to get it to join him in his adventure so it could help him to communicate with his other Pokémon.
