   The happy ending was a must for me. I think Steve got written off as simplically naive, and I wanted to do something to validate his side of things. After a few battlezone books continued that theme (and because I felt pretty bad for what I did to 1872 Tony), I decided that even if I had to bend over backwards plot-wise, everyone was going to live. :D
