He got Mycroft, and he loved him. This is the first line that really grabbed me. Because I honestly believed that little kid Sherlock loved Mycroft more than anyone and that it probably broke his heart when Mycroft went away to school.
I'm not sure there's anything that sums BBC!Sherlock up better than this line, "He just didn’t want John to be happy with someone other than him." Seriously, that's it in a nutshell.
Ahh I feel so bad for Sherlock when he finds out John threw his block away. Of course one of the few times John gets impatient with Sherlock and his weird questions is also the worst possible time he could have done so.
I really like how John immediately just deals with it and tries to reassure Sherlock. He doesn't even think about it, as soon as he realizes how upset Sherlock is he's there comforting him and figuring out what they can do to fix it. Talk about 'it's all fine' man. I'm not at all surprised that little Sherlock likes naps either. He's pretty much constantly sleep deprived and the idea of someone tucking him in and giving him permission to rest must be a huge relief.
This, like all age play fics featuring little!Sherlock, makes me want to punch Holmes senior in the face.
John giving Sherlock his old bear is the cutest thing in the entire fucking world. I swear I am about to throw up from cute.
The uneasy truce Mycroft and John have when it comes to Sherlock is one of the things I love about both of them so much. They're such incredibly different people, John a man of action, Mycroft one of thought and careful planning (Sherlock is obviously the combination), but they both recognize that the other wants what's best for Sherlock. Ugh it must kill Mycroft to just quietly sit and watch his brother suffer even when he knows it's the best of the two options he had before John appeared on the picture.
But actually. John could not be more chill about this entire thing. I love it. Sherlock's fear of John telling other people about his aging up and down is one of those things that just always rips my heart out. It would be such an awful thing to do to a person and just ugh, more cuddling required. Welp clearly someone needs to be eating more.
