    I'm not entirely sure I understand your question. Are you asking when he'll realize that keeping his identity secret is going to make things worse?

      Not just make things worse but, more immediately, stop things from getting better.

        I think he already knows that. The problem is that he's pretty seriously injured and can't afford for Ladybug to face Gabriel without him.

        I'll admit, it's a bit contrived and as the story progresses it does get rediculous the lengths he goes to keep his identity still unknown to Ladybug and Marinette (I know, same person. But he doesn't know that). Right now though, he's trying to find a way to safely extract himself from Gabriel so when things go down he's not in the immediate line of fire - even if that means that things are going to get bad, very bad.

          I don’t think it’s all that contrived. Remember the NY special clarified that the masks do in fact have a glamour charm that keep people from making an otherwise obvious connection.
