Comment on Salt fics make no sense

  1. The woman who is being taken into protective custody represents how in some stories Marinette manipulates her friends to defeat Lila and seems to feel no guilt for being little better then her and yet we are supposed to cheer her on. It actually made me nauseous once.

It's genuinely incredible the degree to which the Marinette of salt-fics, in her capricious self-righteousness and disproportional vindictiveness, is more horrifying and repugnant villain than Lila or her supposed tormentors ever could be. I've parodied that myself on several occasions. That so many frame her as a hero when demonstrating that she embraces, rather than struggles against, the most cruel and malicious aspects of her own nature, is terrifying.

There is a solid premise here, and your concluding observations are entirely rational grounding for a critique of the irrational direction of the salt-fic genre. However, I think that it could be even stronger if the work were edited slightly to address some of the capitalization issues and run-together sentences.

Great start with your first two fan works.

      1. Regarding the capitalization and dialogue tag issues?

        Certainly.

“Oh come on! Alex has never done anything like that on the show and she never would, why do people go on about Adam not doing more to stop Lisa he didn’t know what was going at the time and what is this about Martha’s friends turning against her and bullying her the worst that can be said about them is they are too trusting”.

Here, the sentence should include a period after each complete thought, and dialogue tags to tell us who is speaking would help: "“Oh, come on! Alex has never done anything like that on the show and she never would. Why do people go on about Adam not doing more to stop Lisa?" Caleb raged while reading yet another ridiculous 'salt' story on his computer. "He didn’t know what was going at the time! And what is this about Martha’s friends turning against her and bullying her? The worst that can be said about them is they are too trusting!”

Each place where I've added a period, exclamation point, or question mark is a complete sentence.

“Saltfic I am Shadowmoth you don’t like how people treat you favourite characters I can give you the power to make them act like how they write them but in return you must give my Ladybug and Chat noir’s Miraculous do we have a deal?”

Here, again, we have a number of sentences joined together without proper punctuation: “Saltfic, I am Shadowmoth. You don’t like how people treat you favourite characters? I can give you the power to make them act like how they write them, but in return you must give my Ladybug and Chat noir’s Miraculous! Do we have a deal?”

“oh this is just like episode 20 of season 2 and episode 5 of season 4 and…” “ yes yes but don’t you think you should get started” “oh right” and he was enveloped in the familiar purply black substance.

Each new sentence should begin with a capital: Putting each character's dialogue on a new line helps readers to separate them out too and know who is saying what.

“Oh, this is just like episode 20 of season 2 and episode 5 of season 4 and…” Caleb began.

“Yes, yes, but don’t you think you should get started?”

“Oh, right.” And Caleb was enveloped in the familiar purply black substance.

the suspect was the one who responded “I stopped her I saved everyone from her ”

Another example is here. "The" begins the sentence, so should be capitalized, and when you have a verb like "responded" and then write what the character said in "quotation marks" a comma should appear.

The suspect was the one who responded, “I stopped her I saved everyone from her.”

        I hope that clarified.
