    I can see why it feels like her actions don’t make sense, because she does want a normal year, but she’s also going to Forks. However, a person isn’t always logical. Bella thinks she can get the best of both worlds - have a normal year in a new place where nobody knows her, AND meet the characters she read about in the book that she’s now inside of.
