Comment on The Family Business

  1. Perfect second part. Owen telling him that he's proud of him is something he need to hear.
Some fans have that misconception, that Luke would have left Tatooine on the first chance he got. But when Ben offered him an opportunity he didn't take it because of his family. He only joined the rebellion because his home was gone. I like the part in the “Princess and the scoundrel“ when Leia realized that even if Tatooíne is still there Luke doesn't have a home to get back to either because for him his aunt and uncle were the only home he ever got. I like how here he left them because he learned another part of his family was in danger. It fits his character so well.

Vader let them land. Grumpily. Making all sorts of threats and insults over the comm, until Owen finally understood what Shmi meant when she'd said that young Ani's tantrums could be cataclysmic.
    Burn :D

Owen sucked in a breath. It burned, full of ash and smoke. "We're here to talk about Luke."
"I have very little to say to you about my son."
"And here we assumed you'd want baby pictures," Beru said. "Don't be a fool, Anakin."

Get him Beru, he deserves it.

Tatooine is dangerous. But we did our best, and we did not work that hard for you to permanently hurt him the moment he finds out he's not an orphan after all!"
More burn. Mustafar his nothing against Owen and Beru' roasting.

There was a hand on his shoulder. Beru—steady Beru, always there when he fell. "I love you," he rasped. He'd been about to die and hadn't said it to her in years.
Then again, he'd never needed to. "I know," she whispered back, and helped him to stand.

Again, couple goal. Their love and partnership feels very mature.

Aw, brothers boding over their dead mother. Or at last Owen using the Shmi card to get back at Anakin.

"I'll take it. For one month." He'd see how much damage he could do for Luke's Alliance, then run back to the farm to watch it implode. At least he'd be able to give his friends who'd had their farm taken over by the Empire their land back.
In a few months his friends and him will laugh about his emperor gig over a glass of blue milk.

Owen tricking Anakin into becoming a moisture farmer on Tatooine for some time, legendary

I love this chaos family. Just imaging Owen and Beru strolling into the senate in their farmer clothes or Leia's and Mon's reaction to what happened made my day.

    1. Yes!!!! I love that you brought that up. I see it a lot in people criticising Luke as well for still being a kid in ANH compared to Leia and the others, for instance, but the fact that he's 19 and legally an adult but still stayed behind on the farm because his family needed him says a lot about Luke's sense of duty from as early as when he was a kid. The Larses and Luke are just <3

Thank you so much for reading!!! I loved reading your reactions to the lines throughout - I'm proud of the oneliners, so it's great to know that they landed :D - and your thoughts!!!

      1. Re- Luke a bratty kid in ANH,

I used to read a blog from an ex-fundamentalist homeschooled Christian, "Love, Joy, Feminism." Not only were Libby Anne's writings an interesting window into a world that I never knew existed, but the comments were interesting too.

Like there were some foster parents leaving comments. One comment I remember is that children only "push" or act bratty, when they feel safe with their caretakers.

And I think Luke wanted Owen's "blessing" to go off and join the Imperial military. Owen, though, was probably worried about Luke running into Siths and Inquisitors. Or what would happen to Luke if the Empire discovered that he was Force sensitive.

        Anyhoo
