Just like the last two stories I loved it! Can Edric squire for jon? As Edric said it'd be hard for stannis to find a lord or knight for him to squire for when no one wants to fall out of favor with the Tyrells. Jon wouldn't mind, he himself is a bastard after all. And it wouldn't be hard for Edric to become a good, strong knight. Jon said he's white tall for his age-obviously inherited from his father. He could follow many paths that involve martial pursuits-become a landed knight, kingsguard if he's good enough, or most probable ( and profitable if your that skilled in the sets of war ) becoming a sellsword. It'd be intersting and very original if we saw more of Edric-though I realize that you've already written the fic do I guess it doesn't matter. Anyways loved it and I can't wait to see what happens next!
Thanks for your comment, and it's great to hear that you enjoyed The Squire of Dragonstone and The Knight of Storm's End! Hopefully you'll like reading this story just as much and like the direction I take it.
I introduced Edric in this chapter to serve as a foil for Jon. They have many similarities with both of them being high-born bastards given good educations, but at this point their maturity levels and understanding of what it means to be a bastard in Westeros are rather different. You'll see a bit more of Edric, though he won't be one of the major players in this story. Well, just because I know what's going to happen in this story doesn't mean that I don't enjoy reading people's thoughts! There's always fascinating. Never feel like you're going off on a tangent, for I often do that as well. Part of the fun of reading fanfiction and all :).
This is slightly off topic, but since you are quite interested in Edric I can't help but recommend The King of the Long Knight by Bronson, which takes a very interesting look at what Stannis would be like as king with Edric as his heir (Shireen having met a tragic fate). Edric is one of the point-of-view characters, and the author does a good job at fleshing him out and creating a father/son dynamic between him and Stannis.
Thankyou for reaponding to my comment! I really like authors who do so, it makes me feel like my opinion counts. I'll take a look at the fic, thanks for recommending it!
EmynIthilien, I highly appreciate you respond every comment you get! I wish all the authors were that nice to their readers! ;) "The King of the Long Night" is a fine story I particularly like for how Stannis & Dany and Stannis & Selyse relationships are shown.
Glad you liked the fic rec! I found it very creative and true to character, and in particular I liked how the author wrote Stannis' confrontations with both Dany and Tyrion. And as far as Selyse goes, she's proud and regal to the end despite all the tragedies she's suffered (and the fact that she and Stannis still don't get along).
