Comment on Not the Robin They Wanted

  1. Okay, first, I love this AU.
    Second:
AAAAAAAAAAAAARGHFJGJFKGLL! WHAT HAPPENED ON THAT LAST BIG BREAKOUT?! (since it's the last time they apparently saw him).
    What happened? Who said what?
Who did what? what was the last straw that break the camel's back?
was it Batman saying something, or Dick or Damian or anyone? Was it something else?
Or did anything else happened? (Ra's? Joker? One of Gotham's rogue? One of Titan's rogue? nothing like that? A vacation?)
oooor maybe it's something simpler than that: in that last breakout maybe he saw "the family" finally working together and working well. He's not needed anymore because Batman doesn't need Red Robin to hold him back since he's fine now? So he left? Just like that because they never liked him anyway ? (and he never liked himself either?)
    ...
    ARGH!
    WHERE'S TIM?
    I NEED TO KNOW!!!
    ...
*hem* sorry. this story is amazing and I got carried away.
    a little
    *hem*

So, now I'm wondering what happened with Bruce being lost in the timestream (I can already see The Dick (... sorry >_>) striping the current Robin from his title to give him to Damian, except said current Robin barely cares (he does actually, but he won't show it) because he was Robin just because it was the only title available. "I've always been more of a Red Robin"
Or with Jason as Hood and him attacking Tim (that one will sting, will it?)
Or when Damian arrived in the family.
Or what Cassandra thinks of all of this?

and now last speculation (be aware, I like theorising about everything): Who and how will figure Tim's identity first!?
    My bet on Jason.
I'm guessing all theses flashbacks are in fact Jason as Robin interacting with Camera Kid. Or Little Stalker (I don't know what Jason was calling him in his head, back then)... which is also why I said that the chapter with "Red Hood coming for Robin" will sting a LOT
which ALSO means at some point Jason will connect the dots
Wild guess, here: the famous 911 call where Tim was trying to save that guy that didn't make it.
I don't know for whatever reason it will come back, maybe Cass will talk about what happened to Red Robin during his search for Bruce with Ra's and they will start to dig into... well, everything?
But whatever the reason, the Bats will find Tim's 911 call (and yikes, Batman, you did kill someone... and the kid blamed himself for it and it's your fault asshole! *batman internally*)
And Jason will just... "wait... wait fuck! I know that voice! I fucking know that voice! It's the kid! The one whose parents were never here even for his birthday!"
    ...
... okay I'm stopping now, sorry for rambling, I can't help it ^^'
thanks again for this fic and I wish you a wonderful christmas

    1. Honestly I love it when I I get comments that theorize about the story :D I'm glad you are excited for this! While I don't have all the details plotted out yet, I do have an outline that I'm following. (Its where I get the chapter names (: ) but I will say, there was a trigger for Tim's disappearance...:)

It's going to be interesting when we get to Damians arrival. I mean, think about it. Tim came specifically to stop Batman from becoming a terror to Gotham... and Damian wants to join his father in battle to kill anyone in their way. Methinks Tim might care less about the Robin title than the fact that Damian wants to kill every criminal they come across.

Oh gosh, Titans Tower is going to sting SO BAD, Buuuut not for the reason you are thinking. Im not spoiling WHO it is in the flashbacks, buuut I will say it isn't Jason. That doesn't mean Jason didnt KNOW Tim, but it isnt Jason in the flashbacks.

I'm honestly not quite sure how I'm going to write the search for Bruce in the timestream... I have some ideas, but I wouldnt be able to make it work in the same way the comics did, with Dick taking Robin away. I have some ideas to make a similar impact though :)

Identity stuff! I am super excited for when we get to that. Alas, it is not the near future. And yeah, Jason does seem like the most likely... but do you think Cass knows? Was she the first to know, or will she be finding out later with the others...

Okay, so I actually have multiple flashbacks already written for the night of the "famous 911 call" and it is going to HURT. I want so badly to be at that point in the story already 😭😭😭 but that is gonna be closer to the end, with the reveals.

No no, don't apologize! It makes me so happy that you liked this story idea that much, and I love hearing the theories and thoughts!

I have a couple questions (that you dont have to answer) that I am curious what peoples opinions would be. One, do you think it would be possible for Tim to have hidden his identity SO WELL that when Jason and Damian come, Ra's is still unaware of who he is? And Talia as well. Similarly, what if Red Robin is different enough from his normal behaviours that Cass doesnt know who he is, even after meeting Tim multiple times outside the mask? (Not like, a ton of times, just a few times for a few various reasons...)

Lolol as you can probably tell, I ramble a lot too 😅 thanks so much for the comment though! It made my day 😊 and Merry Christmas to you too! Have a great day!❤❤❤❤❤

      1. Oh, I didn't think about Damian wanting to kill everyone and how it conflicts Tim (though, Batman should more or less do his job to stop the stabby kid... I guess...). And now I can't wait to know what's going to happen in Titan Tower.
And dammit! Who's in the flashback then!? Was it Dick as little Robin when Tim was a smol bean and his fascination with the persona came from here? was it Babs? ... Batman himself? omg fjaslfkjsfléjdjsfslkdfj I wanna know! T.T (don't worry, I won't ask for spoiler... nah, I would totally ask for it but I'm not delusional enough to think you would tell me anyway XD)

and okay, fair. it's a slow burn before the reveal (*sob*, this is gonna take long, I guess... *sob* )

For the search, about Bruce... honeslty, I think it might be less angsty than in canon with the stripping Robin thing (just personal opinion, here). with how I read your Tim, I have the feeling he doesn't really like being robin. I guess he would think it's okay because Robin was never really his anyway. though, he would remind Nightwing that Tim's job had always been to make sure the Bats don't push too far. I think he would threaten Dick and Damian to go balistik on them if Robin killed someone.
In the meantime, he would create the Red Robin persona because he needs a mantle to do his job. And his job is for Gotham. Gotham needs Batman, so he has to save him... or somethin ^^"

Now, for your questions, of course I'm glad to answer as much as I can :)
        1) About Ra's knowing Tim's identity or not:
I totally think Tim could have hidden his identity so well absolutely nobody can find him. Remember what you wrote in the first chapter: Batman tried to find who Tim was when he finally decided the kid was a kid and not a thing only here to torment him. Which means the World's greatest detective, THE Batman, the one who knows everything and always has several moves in advance on his opponents (including Ra's) couldn't find who Robin/Red Robin is.
If he couldn't when he has the kid in his city, in his home, I really don't think Ra's could achieve this.

        2)About Cass:
I think she would recognise Tim, honestly. But it would take a lil' bit of time. She would have to notice him and have to watch him closely. I suppose she would be suspicious, in a "I have a slightly weird feeling about htis guy" kind of way, and would have to meet him a few times before recognising him (Tim is known to be the one who can lie to Batman and not get caught, after all. so with your lore where he isn't close to the bats generally speaking? yeah. Plus, he is as good at changing persona as Bruce himself).
I guess in the end it depends on what frequency she would have met him, in what context exactly and on how omnipotent you headcanon her.
BUT! and that's the big question: how many time did she actually met him outside the mask? In what occasion would Cassandra Wayne meet Timothy Drake who is always alone apart from his kinda friends at school?

Last thing: I always enjoy meeting a rambling buddy. Rambling about fics is always awesome!

Edit: forgot one last freakout: ARGDFG WHAT'S THE TRIGGER????????
        thank you! u_u

        1. Heheheheh you're right, I'm not telling you that right now 😁 buuut I will spoil that I'm thinking of making it so that NOBODY knows who he is under the mask, not for certain... :))) I might change it a touch so that Cass is like, kind of aware? But yeah, I won't say for certain until I get there.

And ooohhh gosh, would that just irritate Ras SO MUCH?!

Oh! Tim is already forging out his Red Robin identity. He doesnt consider himself Robin, the only reason he even went by that name at all was because it was the name people knew, and it was the name of the suit he wore, right? He's still making changes to the costume tho, cause he doesn't feel worthy of it 😭

Yes!!! Rambling buddies are the best!!
