If I am allowed to ramble a bit more, I also like how Loboto started to self-sabotage himself over the 6th chapter. It isn't just the literal mutilation he did to himself but also doing things he knew were wrong, because why not? He is already in deep so why not start removing brains and torturing people? Yet, because he has his disabilities, he kept on messing up. He got stuck into a cycle of abuse that he saw no way out of.
And that is why Raz and Oleander exploring his mind fit, THEY got out. They left a toxic situation and were able to find a place they (mostly) fit in. Oleander of course had the chips on his shoulder, but he wasn't stuck like Loboto was.
Once more, Loboto serves as a mirror of what could have been to Raz and Olly.
Also, as an aside, I find it funny how I got into Dark Crystal proper through reading For Unity and now your writings got me into ANOTHER fandom XD
I wouldn't fully call it self-sabotage--more like, he kept just getting in deeper and deeper. One unfortunate thing with my writing is that I actually had a lot more clients to show, but had to cut a lot due to how long the chapter was getting. He was successful, but when he screwed up, it was bad--you don't want to screw up when you're working for dangerous criminals! Even so, he did indeed wind up in a cycle of abuse and digging himself into a hole that he could find no way out of.
Gosh though, yes! I wanted Raz and Oleander to be the ones to help him because of how similar their situations were.
...OH MY GOSH AHAHAHAH. That's so funny! I've bumped into a lot of different people from various other fandoms I'm in here, haha. (BTW, Jaywings and I ARE planning on finishing For Unity! Psychonauts 2 just kinda hit us both like a freight train there.)
