Comment on Releases 0.9.336 - 0.9.338: Change Log

  1. Seconded! I know I can remove my work from a collection if it's made anonymous or unavailable, but I'd have to notice first, and authors don't usually check their works every day to see if they're all still accessible and/or under their own name. I'm all for letting people add my works to their collections, but I'd be far more comfortable doing so if I could be sure that it won't affect the visibility of my stories.

At least now you get an e-mail if a collection your works are in gets turned anonymous or unrevealed. That didn’t happen early on so was even harder!

Ok can you explain why adding a work to a collection would change the visibility of a story? And what exactly that means?

      1. Adding a work won't change the visibility, but it used to be the case that if the owner set the whole collection to "anonymous" later, the creators of all works in the collection would be hidden. If they set it to "unrevealed", the works would become hidden altogether. These days you get an email when that happens so you can remove your work from the collection and make it visible again, but if an author no longer checks their emails or orphaned their works, these works remain hidden for good.

According to what laurelnose said below, changes have been made to the way a collection owner can affect the visibility of the collected works, so it may not be an issue any more going forward, but the problem of all those old works being hidden remains.
