Comment on All the Missing Pieces

  1. I never grew up with siblings. I have half-brothers who were kept from me until we found each other on social media in our 20s, so I confess Adrien's feelings of resentment at being deprived the opportunity for that relationship were very much my own, before I made peace with it.

But - I emigrated as a teenager and the sudden and dramatic separation was quite formative. A lot of relationships couldn't withstand it. A small few endured and became stronger for it, and we are still friends today.

I have come to believe a) a period of semi-isolation can be good for us, to get to know ourselves better, and b) the best relationships of any kind...it doesn't matter how long you spend apart. When you go back, you'll just pick up where you left off. You might both be changed, but that love is still there, holding strong, tying you together in some unspoken way.

I'm, um...starting to write another chapter, here....
