I definitely took some creative liberties when it came to the power of the nuclear bomb. Even with a smaller and mostly hollowed out Moon, it’s very unlikely that even something like the Tzar Bomba would be enough to completely destroy it. However, this is a universe where portals to other worlds exist, so maybe it’s not too far out of the realm of possibility.
Mr. X has evidently had a very unorthodox relationship with the rest of the U.S. government throughout the entirety of this fic. I tried to show in this chapter that his influence has been stretched far beyond that of a normal FBI agent. I like to think that after proving the existence of interdimensional aliens, the government basically just allowed him to do whatever he wanted as long as it was beneficial, but that’s mostly left up to the reader’s imagination.
No Secret Spell or Three-Stones Deity this time around. I always knew I wanted to incorporate a nuke at some point in the story when I first started writing it and this was just the perfect opportunity to do so. As Mother Olm said in the Hardest Thing, the prophecy is more so just a humble request for help. So essentially, in this timeline, Anne just carried out the prophecy on her own with just a little bit of help from Sasha. The “choice” here being to agree to work with Mr. X.
The last chapter is definitely going to be a tough one to write. Lots of stuff to wrap up and plot beats to fulfill. I’m pretty busy the rest of the month so my best guess would be sometime in July for the finale.
Yeah it's ya creativity that make the fictional nuke warhead on the missile so much more lethal when compared to its real life counterparts. Other than the smaller mostly hollowed out moon, I think using captured alien tech (include the plasma weaponry from Amphibia) might have been integrated with the 21st century US military arsenal such as the nuke in this chap to increase its bigger destruction abilities.
I admit X having legit hard evidence of aliens really had the US gov giving X lots of leeway, manpower & untold trillions of dollars worth of Black Budget funding to make sure not just America but rest of Earth safe from external invaders other than interdimensional aliens. As well as creating teleporters with government support so the available US military units could be sent to Amphibia for the preemptive strike as seen in ya previous chapters, though yes mostly around the imagination for us readers.
One thing is for sure, this huge operation in Amphibia undergone by the US gov+US military having some much lives+equipment sent to Amphibia lost (not like millions but possibly thousands of military personnel from grunts to high ranking officers in various branches died, while equipment totally possibly billions of dollars worth from firearms to the nuclear powered Nimitz-class aircraft carrier sent there got captured &/or destroyed) might go public to the rest of Earth that even if the US sort of won this war made the Global War on Terror (GWOT) looked mild to say the least as this level of damage is even costly.
No need spells, prophecies nor the Guardian in "The Hardest Thing" at all cause screw these types of Deus Ex Machina plot devices lol.
