I work at CaptionCall. We caption phone calls for d/Deaf/hard of hearing people.
That is so true. That is why I love the Internet. I don't have to hide any parts of myself. It is amazing!
Autism for me can be frustrating, especially when people are naturally loud, but I manage pretty well. :)
Oh, I see. I managed high school without much difficulty, but college was too much.
I can understand that. I can't always deal with even the word rape, and often call it non-con because of that. I don't say it to make it less, but so I can handle saying it. It is Lockhart and yeah. Darn. Nevermind then. It is good enough that I read it twice. And I have read all of two fanfictions twice (the other one was its sequel). I high suspect this series will be the third.
I feel you. Right now I prefer Harry Potter fics, but my other main fandom is Supernatural. :) Many of those are well-written. But yeah, people often portray Sirius as dumb, when in fact he was one of the smartest wizards of his age. People. :(
How does that work, if I may ask? You design phones that flash instead of ring or you type out what the caller is saying so the deaf person can read it on their special phone or what should I imagine with such phones?
By naming it differently, the sheer horror of the word lessens and makes it easier to deal with. Still can't read non-con either, though. Supernatural is always fun to read and watch; though personally I more read the Walking Dead, Captain America, Rise of the Guardians, Merlin, Sherlock, Avengers, How to Train your Dragon etc etc etc because I'm not a Destiel fan and that's what usually pops up :P
People believed Rowling when she started destroying Sirius' character.
I can't go into how we do it, because I love my job so I have no wish to be fired, but we bring the words up on the screen for the CaptionCall user, much like closed captioning, except it is live so there is about a 3 second delay for them. The phone also can be used with a hearing aid, I have heard it can be with a cochlear implant, but I'm not sure, and it can go higher in volume than other phones.
That's definitely true.
I love destiel. I love it so much <3
-frowns loudly- Rowling destroyed Sirius. She truly did. I can understand plenty of things in her universe, but not him. First of all, Sirius would have attacked the Durlseys upon finding out about the abuse (which it seemed like she was very dismissive of to begin with).
Ah, understandable. Sorry, had no idea it has an confidentiality clause. Although in hindsight, it does kind of makes sense or other companies could steal their workings. It's really good such a thing exists, though.
Yeah...had a feeling you were a destiel fan :P I love Castiel and I like Dean very much, but I kind of fell into Sastiel years ago and never got out of it :P
Fan Fiction...was actually one of the episodes I disliked the most to be honest. But then I've always loved the cases they take on the most, especially in earlier seasons when every episode didn't try to tear my heart out. Still hope Gabriel will return some day.
