Yeah I was actually wondering about Hyrule's policy on left-handedness because they didn't have any problem with the other Links, but then I realized that literally no other Link actually has formal schooling or training of any kind. Some of them are blacksmith's apprentices and that's about the furthest any of them get to a formal education. Well, there's Spirit Tracks Link who actually does have a formal education but it's in engineering, not in sword-fighting or anything else where handedness would be particularly relevant or noticeable.
(I am now mentally going through BotW to see if there's anything else I remember that could point to left-handedness, but obviously that's not gonna work bc my memory isn't that specific)
Yeah, I can imagine that the army would want all of their soldiers to fight right-handed, if only so they don't get in each other's way on a battlefield. Still, I'll stand by Link being a natural lefty :D
(Unfortunately, I haven't been able to find any other evidence for left-handed Link, but I'll stand by it.)
Actually, you know what I just realized? Revali seems to be a lefty in canon. He draws his bow with his left wing, and holds his bow with his right wing. Everyone else (including Teba and Link) do it the other way around. This is consistent in art, dlc cutscenes, and Age of Calamity gameplay.
Haha, yep, he is! Being left-handed is a very quick way for a character to become my favorite, and Revali is no exception. I do like that detail, because it makes him stand out all the more among the Rito. I suppose it goes a little way towards making up for the fact that Link is no longer left-handed in these games (which I'm still annoyed about, I'll admit).
I don't usually notice, I mix up left and right a lot, especially since there are certain things I do left-handedly and certain things I do right-handedly, so unless it's about writing, I don't always know which is which. I noticed this time because I was looking at Revali's archery form compared to Link's (they draw slightly differently) and noticed Revali does it the other way around.
I do find it funny that they decided to give Link's rival so many Link traits.
