I've always wanted to see this version of Brain and Mallah, there was such potential in their relationship... hampered by the fact that their comic counterparts had gone down the Then Let Me Be Evil path so hard that people took such characters inherently campy elements deathly seriously. Brain tended to be drawn as the question what if R2-D2 had a brain at the top of his trash can, couldn't move under his own power, and had a skull motif. Mallah is in both versions, an unpowered gorilla with a french accent. The difference is that their counterparts likely would kill any given person they had no immediate need for, simply because they could. Having come from Doom Patrols rogues gallery, they tended to be about as Dark as Doom Partol aka the original, what if the Fantastic Four was as dark as any given era could get away with.
Also more willing to broach 'controversy', which was how we got Brain and Mallah's love story, Coagula (literally the first trans super hero), and Danny the Street (a sapient location who speaks entirely in Polari & was just generally as gender non-coforming as a psychical location can be)
