Ohmygod, I really wasn't sure what to expect going into this, but it's fantastic. Getting himself and Arthur saved by magic is the only way Utter could make an exception to his All Magic Is Evil rule. The locust comparison was particularly apt. I still think Uther will go on killing sorcerors. This hasn't changed his whole mindset. But he's made a special place for Merlin, his son's devoted protector and lover, and that's wonderful.
Thank u, I agree that uther would go on killing -- I ended it where I did because I think more decisive character development in Uther would take much longer than the timeline of this fic, maybe even the rest of uthers life... But he has now seen that he has exceptions to his own rules of "kill all sorcerers for the good of the kingdom"- morgana, his daughter who he loves and is a sorcerer, Merlin, who protects his son and is a sorcerer, and Arthur, who he would throw out his morals to protect. So this is just him scratching the surface of his own hypocrisy. I wanted to see what it would take for him to spare even one sorcerer, but with the implication that maybe someday in the future, he would consider sparing others. I like uther a lot and wanna write more of him. I'm glad you enjoyed it, thanks again for your lovely comment!
