Comment on They're Sticks, Probably (Anima Virus)

  1. imo it's only mansplaining when you say "you're wrong about this thing that you clearly have real experience with, here's how it actually is." you didn't do that, at least not from my perspective. you said "let me validate your experience of a thing by sharing my similar experience of the same thing," which is a great and kind thing to say, thank u.

gosh, just. a complex world's internal logic is always such a point of fascination for me. it's the true harbinger of a new hyperfixation, now that I think about it. I just have to Descartes-method the entire world into tiny bite-sized pieces, and then fill in the resultant gaps with things that make sense to me. and then I have to write about all those fill-ins and see if they make sense to others. hence the need for comments!! ty again for yours btw, so glad ur enjoying my brain hamsters 💕

    1. yes to all of this about the comments. Lack of commenting wouldn't stop me conceptualizing a fic, but oh man it definitely helps the motivation to write and/or post. I take procrastination & perfectionism to an extreme sport, so to not get validation after all of that both hurts & also means I have less pressure to actually take the rest of it outside my head lol. One of the reasons I try to comment.
(It also helps to have a fan community of any kind- I'm not on tumblr, but I am in a discord server w a bunch of other creators & that's where about 90% of my drive comes from hah)

This is super cool so far both in concept & execution & I'm a bit late to the party here with it almost being December, but I'm definitely enjoying reading it! The ideas are absolutely fantastic.

      1. "late to the party" that's the other thing about comments - I don't care if they're day-of or 10 years from now. I might have less to say in response further down the line but they never stop making me just as happy to see 💕

thank you for bombing me with support this morning adkgfdks

        1. Real <3

And ofc! Thanks for making a BANGER fic, wtf???
Up until this point I've been finding fics by hopping authors based on commenters/kudos from my own & friends' stuff (and fics they plug). It was easier, but I got bored last night & decided to finally start to run the gauntlet using the tagging system to find stuff, & this happened to be one of the recent ones :)). And I'm happy to say this is definitely up there w the better fics I've read so far!! You made me feel Emotions at 4 am and now I get to make you feel emotions at 6:30 am (or whatever time it was for you, timezones are a cosmic mystery). Best feeling in the world is to wake up to a frick ton of comments and good writers deserve all of them <3

          1. I too select fics to read based first on tags and then on the number of comments per chapter. which is why I'm so anxious to get a fair amount of comments at the start, so people give me a shot.

            1. Oh I didn't even think about that.. (I do look in the comments for author interaction, though)
I'm not that complicated, I just go into the kudos list of an AvA fic & click on all the authors & see what I can find lol. Having a large comment base sometimes just means long chains, so I don't use that as much of a metric. Idk I just got into this whole "actually interacting with a fandom" thing with AvA so it's all new to me. I am figuring it out! Slowly.
