    You know, one thing (of many) I really love about Mobius is the fact that he's a very good stand in for the Loki girlies (gn) lol, saying and thinking things about Loki that I've been saying for over a decade. And I think your entire grasp of his character is just really really lovely, including the fact that he occasionally tries to convince himself to be careful and keep some distance.

    ---He raised a hand towards Mobius without a plan. He wanted to run his hand along the back of his shoulders. He wanted to turn him to face him. He wanted his attention. All of it. He wanted him to look at him and see him. This man had seen everything in Loki, more than he saw in himself, but he still wanted more. His hands and chest ached for it.---

    And this! THIS! To me this is exactly what Mobius is to Loki, and what irrevocably changes him. Also the way you describe it is just...god. Clenching my fists really hard. I feel normal about it.

    ---“I'll protect you,” he promised quietly.---

    Oh my. I really need you to know that I'm actually blushing and giggling like crazy through so much of this lmao

    As you already know, I love this story (and I now feel the need to add that I'm really enjoying the way you weave in the bigger overarching discussion about freedom and choice, and how scary it can be), but I'm gonna keep saying it, humbly thank you for every single chapter, and as always I look forward to more <3

    (Also happy belated birthday!!! I hope you had a lovely one :))

      I looooove thisss!! I wish I could pin your comment or something!!!! I can write essays about these two (which I guess this whole, giant fanfic is lol):

      -Mobius being a stand-in for the fans
      I really agree. I think since Mobius was introduced to Loki the way we were - through film - it gave him the insights that we had since the first Thor. Something about being able to see Loki's life without being a part of it ( without the possibility of being betrayed/hurt by him during his worst times) allowed Mobius, along with his natural patience and good humor, to appreciate something about Loki that the fans of the movies have.
      It's honestly amazing that the writers created someone like Mobius who is able to tell Loki the things the fans always wanted to say - to encourage him, have fun with him, and invest in him because he knows his potential.
      Of course, to your point about keeping distance, is the fact that actually being with and around Loki (after only watching the 'movies') would change how Mobius sees him. Loki, even when he's on your side, is unpredictable and, as always, mischievous. A lot of what makes up Loki (chaos, desire, etc) is exactly what Mobius has been working against for centuries and, despite their fast friendship, Mobius would need to still be wary of falling for tricks or losing his sense of balance with Loki. He'd know not to trust Loki to keep boundaries, so he has to be the one to tend to them. Anyways, I'm having a lot of fun giving that dynamic more time and space to evolve. :) !!!

      Loooved your reaction to Loki's thoughts about reaching out to Mobius!! I was thinking the attraction there wouldn't simply be physical. I think the strongest attraction Loki could feel (and has never felt before) is something that is much deeper than physical (though he would naturally want to express it physically). It's a challenge trying to articulate a deeply psychological (and increasingly romantic) attraction through a character that has no frame of reference for the very large emotions he's feeling, so I'm relieved it felt right to you!

      Also, I'm glad you liked the talks about freedom and choice!!! I wanted to keep those ideas in bc they're central to the thesis of the show and for their much-needed growth as individuals. I think how Loki and Mobius navigate their sense of self and free will greatly impacts their feelings towards one another (after all, they are each other's foils and symbols of what they've each been lacking in their life). They both need to explore these themes in a way that feels true to themselves, but are guided by their growing connection which forces them to grow into new sides of themselves. I love itttt

      Funnily enough, although I have always appreciated Loki as a character (and have followed the MCU closely since Iron Man), I never dreamt I'd be writing a Marvel, let alone Loki, fanfic. But then Mobius came outta nowhere and their dynamic is just SO layered and they are SUCH interesting characters that play against one another with such amaziiing chemistryyyyy - so much fun to write for!!

      Anyways, I'll stop ranting. I can just write forever about these two lolllll
