Like now I'm thinking about that tumblr post about daemon actors, which I wasn't thinking about when I wrote the conversation, but the like 'do you just have to dress another animal up as a lion or does another daemon play your daemon?'... maybe it depends on the production. Although I bet in this universe at least one actor has found their non-actor soulmate because they worked with their professional actor daemon...
Zan, again, doesn't KNOW why he has vague ideas about how to babysit two people who are tripping balls, but he does! And YEAH I just loved Robin *thinking* about it, even if she won't remember it later to suggest to Steve, she's like 'well he can't sing off key on purpose and he DOES have big ears, maybe Steve's soulmate and I ARE the same'. And I do foresee them spending a LOT of time at Family Video with matching bunnies until Cara settles.
Eddie is RIGHT to want to be squished, just crush his soul back into his body! A thing that YES Steve will be able to do eventually. I love the car dream, because like... Steve really does care a lot about his own car (and he has his framed poster that we all make fun of), so like... of course when you put him with Eddie and Wayne who encourage him to have interests and share in those interests where they can, this little part of him that is Len can flourish! And just... getting a little gift that reflects one of those interests (no pun intended)! And I love like, just... both of them feel better when they can take care of the other, a thing that's true for Steve and Zan as well, they both respond to situations where they have little control and much trauma by needing to check in, caretake, protect... (and DEFINITELY there are Things that will be different with Len around. Considering fully human Steve used his teeth to help rip a demobat apart, you gotta think about what Len could do there)
YEAH like I knew from the start that Pav was going to just get Alexei OUT before he could be spotted, and like... when you take all of Murray's tendencies towards paranoia and watchfulness and condense them down into someone who has always needed to be, I figure you have an early warning system for dangerous situations. I also really loved playing with yeah, like... Alexei for whom the fox is the trickster hero of fairy tales (well, hero*ine*, if you're talking Kuma Lisa) and cartoons (I name-dropped Vuk specifically because the English translation had a big impact on me when I found it in a random small video store as a child and then spent like thirty years desperately trying to find this children cartoon no one else remembered, but like... I also fully believe Alexei would get a kick out of Disney's Robin Hood, given the chance), and then there's Murray, who's just like 'uh yeah there are red foxes all over Illinois and they absolutely steal shit out of your trash because it's easier than hunting, and they scream like someone's being murdered but of all the weird, musky animals to live around here they are not the smelliest so I've got that going for me??'
If there is one thing I will NEVER get tired of, it's Murray being a little self-conscious about being older, about feeling like he's less attractive, etc, and Alexei just being like... INCREDIBLY horny for him the second he allows himself to be. So like, as soon as I get back around to Alexei's POV I am looking forward to hitting that point, where it goes from just dizzied by the idea of being paid attention to and enjoying being catered to a little, to the full on 'here is a list of places on my body where I would like to experience beard burn now, my hands only exist to grope you'.
AND ANOTHER THING I LOVED you know what. Zan is Valid for nibbling the everything bagel crumbs up okay. They can both be gross boys that's okay. He is a little rabbit and that seasoning is delicious. And Zan coming to Steve’s defense over a whole range from "bagel crumbs could happen to anybody" to telling Dustin to back off bc Steve was drugged. I love seeing Eddie’s protective side come from his lil rabbit self. Love that Steve always has somebody in his corner <3
Yessss like he's not eating them off the FLOOR, he has STANDARDS, he thinks Steve's backpack is a reasonably clean surface to eat off of but of course Robin is just like 'wow gross' about it. (and yessss like even if he's a small animal whose number one survival skill is running away, he's going to stand up for his BOY)
