I didn’t think you had it in you the last time we met, but you got out from under the old man’s thumb, didn’t you?”
“What the fuck are you talking about?” Jason asked, even though all he wanted to do was lunge at Extant and beat the shit out of him until he got some answers about Roy, about all of this. “We’ve never met.”
“Oh, we have,” Extant said. “We’ve both improved our fashion sense since, though.”
He reached up and tugged off his cowl, revealing the face of a man about Jason’s age, with brown hair and a boxer’s nose. Something about him tugged at the back of Jason’s mind, a vague familiarity he couldn’t quite place.
“You were Robin,” Extant said. “That insufferable Harper was Speedy. That high and mighty bitch Donna Troy begged me for help and then didn’t like the way I handled my business. Remember?”
Jason’s jaw dropped as the pieces clicked into place. “Hawk?”"
My jaw HIT THE FLOOR at this revelation. It was fucking HAWK???? Hawk has cool important powers now???????? Who gave them to him? Hawk sucks. He's so third rate it hurts. Comics can be so stupid sometimes I swear--

The moment Jason realizes Hawk was the one to take away Roy and everyone has to hold him down is great. Shame they stopped him I think Jason could have bitten off some of his face before he was desintegrated.

The part where Koryak, Grant and Eddie start to give in was so sad. And understandable. Someone should have brought up LIAN tho, and how they're basically killing Jason's five-year-old daughter. Grant would have crumbled, at the reminder that as clean as Hawk wants it to look, he's actually asking him to take Lian's tiny head between his hands and explote her away in exchange of an easier life.
But of course that would ruin the dramatic moment a little so I get why it doesn't come up. Everyone is very stressed so they didn't think about it I'M VERY STRESSED TOO--
That last conversation-- fuck. Hank is right about something, and is that they are good. As broken and fucked up and mean as they can be (and they can be very fucking mean I love them so much), they are good. They'll make the sacriffice, in the end. Even Koryak, who is TERRIBLE 😭
Terrible, but good. Terrible, and willing to kill to get his way, but loves his friends even when it's not real, and isn't actually cruel (unless you're related to him or he wants to fuck you)

All of this is so sad, but they will keep the friendship and their lives will improve from this. They'll get Eddie back. Everything will be good, in the end, but never perfect. That's what life means.

I didn't get any of the clues! I don't know enough about Hank or Hawk or Extant or whatever, and also I didn't remember that there were clues! I did get that he was sexist, but I don't know if that WAS an actual clue. Does it count? Do I get like half a golden star? No? That's okay, don't worry about it
ANYWAY. Great chapter. Had to leave bed to pace around because THE STRESS was killer, but veeeeeeeery good chapter. I'm in pain!
