Comment on Wear a necklace of rope side by side with me

  1. With no intentions to be demanding of your craft, I'd really prefer this story to stay as a gen. I love love LOVE KDJ and YJH's despise to a growing companionship in the original novel and manwha. And although I don't mind shipping. I think it could be great to see more stories where it can be shown that you don't have to fall in love with someone to feel shy or blush under their strong gaze, like Dokja did at the end. Like the men say, is it gay to want to kiss your homie goodnight? XD
I'm enjoying this story so far and excited to see where it goes!!

    1. Like I said, I really have no intentions of adding any romance. I believe it'll take away from the plot, and would seem kind of awkward. I'm not actually entirely sure if that little blush is romantic or not lol. It really could be just embarrassment from being caught staring or being shy in front of a really hot guy. If I locked eyes with someone as hot as yjh, I'd probably blush too despite not being into guys. I mean, I know I'M the one who wrote this, but characters just do what they want. Kdj said he will blush in that moment and I said yes sir. So if any romance does happen, it'll just be because that's what the characters wanted in the moment lol. I won't try to make it happen, but sometimes they get away from me.

Anyway, thank you very much for your comment and your interest in my little fic! I'm also excited to start getting into the meat of it with the games, and I'm especially excited for the end-game. The amount of things I have planned ohoho it'll be fun

      1. Super excited!! Honestly. A Hunger Games fic for this novel? Why have I not seen it before? It fits so well!!
And I mean, I have blushed some times before in embarrassesment because I caught eye contact while staring a bit at some good looking people in public. At this point im good at pretending I was not staring by just looking to the side :')
I agree with you that romance takes away from the plot. That's why I mostly dislike it in fics. I'll be super engaged and wondering how this relationship will go, then 3 chapters later it's "As I stared, my face started heating up-" and then I just sigh... Ah, so now they're just gonna be in love. I wont witness any beautiful friendship flourish :'/
It can work sometimes though. And of course, you do you! We'll see what the characters want!

      1. We're legit doing the exact same. I exlude the M/M tag and hope for the best. But at this point I've mostly read all the good ones :') I don't take my time reading fanfics that haven't been fleshed out well or the writing is... well, yknow. Young.
But I feel just in ANY fandom, the romance part just takes so much away from the depth of the characters feelings toward each other. Dokja's and Joonghyuks enemy to companion kind of vibe is legit my most favourite kind of thing to read. And as seen in the novel, and now more in the manwha, Joonghyuk, searching for Dokja and wanting to make sure "that bastard stays alive" is so much fun to witness and shows how deep feelings of care in it's own way can be.
Not just 'I don't want my lover to die, oh nooo, my heart aches'. Bleh.
While there are some exceptions where the romance fits, I don't mind. But if I'm reading a super angsty fic, like an end of the world, or 'a building collapses, we need to survive!' I just want the characters to team up to survive, not hold hands and kiss eachother incase its their last one XD

          1. You're very right about that!
I think BNHA is a fandom very consumed by the need to ship. (Although I have read many Gen fics that are great)
I can read a story that actually has a good plot and character building. But then they kind of just randomly make it so 2 characters are together, or are already in a relationship. Not only does it sometimes feel out of character, but for what reason? How does this go with the plot at all? Just so they can return to their shared room and cuddle to talk about how hard the well written plot full day was? It feels like I'm reading fillers.
While I was mostly specifying the student characters in BNHA rn, many fics ship 2 of the teachers, and while it's mostly fine as they're not the main, I dislike it when I discover they're married. Two teacher coworkers and long time workers in a dangerous field don't have to be married to talk closely on the phone about how their day was and the struggles of taking care of the students and their issues. End note, a lot of ships and gayness are inserted with the simple mind of "it works" XP
