    [You’re very right! I don’t think the correct word is will either, but in my mind from the perspective of the others, XL ascending was his escape from whatever horrible coffin fate he had been through. ] I twas clear in context that that was just an outsider POV interpretation. I was simply theorizing 😅

    [I probably should have made that clearer but the pov switch from XL to others In this chapter is definitely my weak point] I liked it actually ! it's good to see XL's horro but his horro doesn't give you much og an idea of what is actually happening cause he's quite the unreliable narrstor with how out of it he is. so the outside POV of just abject horror informing us what is actually going on was reall good!

    [so ofc Ruoye was going to follow through despite the mutual horror of it] Sometimes to treat an ill or injured person you gotta do uncomfortable things. folks with fever hate ice baths, disinfectant burns in wounds an boy does cauterization hurt. yet all of these can be life saving measures. I think it's like that for Ruoye too. it hates doing it , but it is the best treatment XL has.
