    I love this. I don't know why fanon chooses to see lupin as some sort of soft boy, I'm not a fan of lupin or any of the marauders and lily. The man is a coward and always has been. I may enjoy snupin sometimes, but only when lupin finally finds a backbone and is sincere in making amends, sadly most marauder/sev stories I come across seem to gloss over the bullying that sev faced at their hands. I don't mind AUs where it's just actual harmless pranks, but calling what the maruders canonically did to severus as pranks just rubs me the wrong way. I feel that you definitely kept in character for them, and I don't think it's bashing seeing as that is actually how lupin is actually portrayed in canon. It's a very realistic portrayal of what could have happened if sev and lupin had a child in my opinion.

      I feel the same way, really. Fanon glosses over a lot of things, LOL, and romanticizes things it probably shouldn't. What the Marauders did was literally bullying and abuse, and of course *nothing* was done about it. James outright admitted he bullied Snape just because he existed. I mean, who says that? And Lupin did nothing to rein in his friends, out of fear of losing them, because that was more important to him than doing the right thing. He did a lot of things out of fear, not becoming as a Gryffindor or even as a man.
      I wasn't interested in glossing all that over, and I don't think Snape is the type to easily forgive anyway, even in his loneliness. He would see the incident in this fic as yet another outrage to deal with, even though he loves his baby, and I wanted to see someone call out Lupin on his BS, LOL, and who better than Snape?
      And yes, Lupin was always going to walk out at the end. There was never any version of this where he stayed. I mentioned it might feel like bashing to warn any shippers out there, just in case, but it has been gratifying to see that many feel like you do, that this is simply being accurate to his character.
