      Quite so. Jaehaerys comes off as completely paranoid. But of course his own childhood in the shadow of Maegor may have made this inevitable. However, if this the case, it seems strange that he allowed him to claim a dragon and gifted him with Dark Sister.

        tbh Jaehaerys fucked up a lot during his reign, too. I wouldn't be surprised if he recognized the problem but still let him because Daemon's a guy and it'd have been more of an issue short-term to deny him a dragon He just seems comparatively so much better than the rest of the Targaryen Kings ensemble because the rest sucked ass with the maybe exceptions of Daeron the Good and Aegon the Unlikely but those had family issues out the kazoo because of the Unworthy + Aegon V being bad at managing his nobles AND failing to discipline his family.

        Targs, you gotta love his multiple psychological issues.
