Comment on The Beaufort Prince

  1. Crap. I switched around Madelaine of Valois with Mary of Guise. Still, if Madelaine doesn't contract tuberculosis, she is still a prestigious match.

    1. I think if I was going to go for a Valois match, it would probably be Marguerite, rather than the sickly Madeleine, but at the moment I'm leaning towards either Margaret Douglas or an Imperial Proxy.

      1. Why Margaret Douglas? Harry already has a good claim to the throne via his father.

I suppose Douglas would be good to solidify his claim, though.

But even without being married to Douglas, I'm sure that the Lords will prefer a bastard son to a legitimate daughter.

        1. Yes but Douglas has Margaret's claim, and she's legitimate. She would probably act in the same sort of role for Harry as Elizabeth of York did for Henry VII and shore up his rule.

          1. Margaret is also seven years older than Harry. Need I remind you of Catherine and Henry? 20 years of marriage with only a sickly daughter to show for it. Do you want the same for Harry?

Frances Brandon or Eleanor Brandon might work better, though. Both are the children of Henry's sister and his best friend. With the benefit of not being too much older than Harry. If you were to go for one of the Brandon girls, I'd go with Eleanor. She seems less ambitious than her sister.

            1. Frances is the elder though, so she's got the senior claim. If I go with a Brandon, it will definitely be Frances. :)
