Yeahhh his motives are not the most complicated. Dude just wants to create the monster-led society of his racist dreams. He never got over the war even though most of monster society was willing to make amends with humankind and move on. Though of course, what Asgore really wants is personal power. He can justify it however he wants but at the end of the day it's a selfish motive.
Glad you enjoyed the action! I always worry that I'm not going hard enough on such sequences, and they are tricky to describe in a way that is both clear and detailed and tense and engaging. So that's nice to hear!
Chara's back! You'll get more of them next chapter. I've been keeping them up my sleeve for most of this fic but I promise they are important (and will be even more so if I write the sequel!).
