Ah, drat! Sounds like it could have been a fantastic story, but it must be absolutely awful the way it is now. ;-)
Just in case you're wondering, "cram as much case into your fic as you possibly can, no matter what type of story you *really* want to tell" is NOT one of my six golden rules! :p
