Genuine question: Where does the peanut brittle thing come from? I've seen it in fics far too many times for it to be headcanon and obviously it's not a thing in either the film or the stage show. So where does it come from, and how do I find it? I tried doing my own research on the subject but found very little of note, but if there's more content for these two out there I really want to see if I can get my hands on it, because frankly, I love them. Great fic by the way, I know I'm like 3 years late to the party, but I just saw the stage show of The Prom and I had a great time and decided to see what Ao3 had in store for me. I was not disappointed. I've read through the whole thing, and I thought it was quite cute. Nice work.
Thanks for commenting! I’m glad you liked it :) the peanut brittle thing, along with Emma singing “Imagine” (if you’ve seen that anywhere), is from the Atlanta production of The Prom! Before “You Happened”, Emma and Alyssa are talking about how they fell in love with each other! For Alyssa, it was when Emma sang “Imagine” at the school assembly, and for Emma, it was when Alyssa blew up peanut brittle in chemistry class! It was a little mention but the fandom thought it was cute and ran with it lol. But yeah, glad you liked it! :)

Yeah there's a lot of recurring stuff that I've seen in fics that I'd just never heard of before. Nice to know that the fandom is keeping the spirit of the other versions of the script in their writing.
