I never liked Merlin, he was selfish and spiteful then and a liar and he's the same now. Everything he's done, all of the people whose lives he's interrupted is just because he now needs something. I mean who is he to decide who are evil and who are not? Entitled and selfish, but will be forgiven because that's how life rolls for him.
Honestly Lena should have told him to get lost, the story sounded interesting but it was all for Merlins wants.
You read this story of your own volition even after seeing it centered around a character you don’t like. Nobody forced you to start reading it and nobody forced you to keep reading it. Merlin is flawed because he’s human, just as we all are, and we’re so sorry that you’re unable to understand that. Your opinions on Merlin won’t stop us or anyone else from continuing to write about him and it won’t stop other people from enjoying this story. What you’ve succeeded in doing here is making yourself miserable for no reason and increasing the hit count on our fic. Thanks!
You're not looking at what I was saying, I love Morgana, but READING all of the chapters show that Merlin is only in it for himself. He doesn't care about Morgana or the rest he's doing it so he can be with Uther and as long as he's lived he's still making the same mistakes.
Thinking he knows best and making decisions about other people's lives without any regards to how it affects them. How you think that this is a criticism of the fic is beyond me.
To be honest, I understand your views. I’m not a big fan of Merlin himself due to his actions on the show. I appreciate the author for making him see the errors of his past ways for the most part in this fic.
I do to even tho he has zero remorse for just barging into people's lives and uprooting them because he misses Arthur. Nothing he has done has been because he missed them all or want to see if they remember him. Plus he's judgemental as hell. He caused most of the problems in Camelot.
Now he's running around in a new time judging Lena? The author thought I was criticizing the story but its really Merlin. Merlin's story never set right with me with I read it as a kid, and he's just another Dumbledore. You can't tell him he was wrong about anything because he's sure he's right about everything.
I can kinda see what your seeing but really if he was THAT selfish he would have let Arthur kill his father, he would have told him to tell the disir that he would allow magic back in the kingdom instead he told Arthur not to do Mordred would die and Arthur would live but leaving Merlin in a land where magic is persecuted even more heavily. There are many instances where if it's a Choice between what he wants and what's best for the future of Albion/Arthur he will sacrifice everything to that end. He was a selfless fool that had no real wisdom to guide him and was forced to make decisions even the wisest would struggle to choose the right path... He was unendingly selfless in so many ways to the point that his selflessness lead to him sacrificing things that he didn't understand would lead to disaster. I think you might need to rewatch the show. Lastly one thing to keep in mind when reading or watching something that focuses mostly on one person's perspective is that it can falsely lead someone to believe it's all about that person and everything happens for/because of them. I have heard the same thing about Harry Potter but his actions speak differently then what it may appear.
