Comment on Webs (A Spider-Man Parahumans AU Story)

  1. Okay something i feel a strong need to point out is that, unless my understanding of Worm Power Ratings is wrong, Breaker is purely for people whose power “breaks them down” into a non-solid form. Like how Shadow Stalker turned into shadow mist or how Purity and Legend tun into human shaped light balls. Scorpion from how you described him is Pure Changer/Brute. Unless he has a Non-solid state to his transformation, he would not be Breaker. His power sounds similar to Hookwolf, who is a Changer but not a Breaker.

    1. I can see the confusion here. Breakers actuslky come in a mot of different flavors and not just a "non-solid" state. Breakers have a form that just give them a change in state im general. For example in Qard there a character named Caryatid (might be mispelling that) who takes a breaker state where she is invincible but cant move.

For Scorpion here, we based his powers a lot on the character Lord of Loss from Ward who is also a Breaker/Brute/Changer. There his body goes into an inactive sort of state which is the breaker aspect, and he can take dofferent forms around his body which is the changer aspect.

Scorpion here is the same principle, his body itself doesnt physically change. Its still physically inside there in an inactive state, and he forms a new body around it. I hope that clears things up some.

    2. I love the breaking down the body explanation for breaker and wish that was what it was in canon because that’s so much simpler.

In canon Breaker is the most difficult to classify as physics breaking is just a thing most powers do by default. When a cape fully falls under the breaker label is when their power enters them into another state that is alien/power generated. In this case Scorpion’s body going inert as his power builds a shell around him that he controls as if it were his body is a breaker state.

But if his body just transformed into a scorpion thing it would be full changer.

Hope that clears it up a little bit.

Like Carbon said there are examples of breakers in Ward that just kinda work differently than the impression worm gives you for breakers.

      1. Actually, even in Worm, you have examples. Brandish had a Breaker state which was here becoming a ball of light that could not be damaged; aside from the Striker weapon generation part of her power.
