   I'm glad you're enjoying all these small interactions Maomao is having with all the other people in her life. Also, yeah. I'm not sure Maomao and Jinshi know how to do anything less than 120%, and if nothing else, Li is an intensely natal society. If I ever do a sequel to this story, I think the focus would have to shift to how Maomao would handle motherhood, especially given the theme of 'bad mothers' that runs through Apothecary Diaries.

   But that's an entirely different essay...
