Thank you for all the kind words. And Robotech: Battlecry was indeed awesome. And I will state, I think Jack Archer lived(the flash had the outline of a Zen Scoutship in it) so he had a good life here too. Not a great one, being in a low oxygen environment for that long probably did a number on his body, but he lived, had a family, and did all the things he wanted to do. He got to see a world without war, and that IS what he wanted, even if he never got to fly again.
As for the Council, agreement with how they have a 'status quo is God' mentality. As long as things continue on as they are, they're willing to ignore just about anything. It's WAY the Batarians were such a problem. They were, according to the books written by the head writer of ME, ALWAYS slavers, murders, and general bad people. But so long as they limited 'Cultural Committee' activities to border worlds or the Terminus, the Council was willing to turn a blind eye.
But that sort of attitude also keeps them from trying to advance in any way unless pushed to do so by outside circumstances. It helps that the Asari ARE the most advanced, and have a reason to not only keep people from going too fast ahead, but also a reason to keep others from developing, say, a scanner to detect prothean beacons and the like.
As for the Reapers, I'm trying with this to show off what kind of monsters they'd be to fight. After all, even if a tactic works on them, they ARE supposed to be adapting to everything, studying and learning from each cycle. It's one of my problems with some of the crossovers which show them being beaten, because they refuse to change themselves, when the whole point of Harbinger's speech is they are absolutely changing and learning every time this comes around.
