  1. Good, I don't hate stories without epilogues, but when it cuts to black after the climax it always feels a bit empty for me. Is why I enjoyed that we both got the Falingon Feast at the end of DM, and the extra comics. I wann know where the characters plan to/end up in.

    1. Yeah I want to write where the characters end up since in this case, they are very much the heart of the story. The final fic migh actually be only 4 chapters, with 2 of epilogue, but I am yet to decide whetever or not to compact the last two chapters into 1.

      1. I think that what matters in that epilogue is more the amount of words/content than if it's two chapters or one, so I wouldn't worry too much about it.

And yeah, I am tired of hearing that "it's about the journey, not the destination". No, it's about both of them! That feels like an excuse for having a kinda crappy destination!

        1. I wouldn't call it worrying. I am just unsure yet.

It's about the friends we made along the way and the monsters we ate (and also the ending).

          1. The friends we made along the way, the monsters we ate, the friends we maybe turn into more than friends later... and how we can keep eating monsters after the ending. That's what makes exploring the post game of DM worthwhile, while still having a good ending.

            1. Don't forget about the friends we made into monsters and then eaten along the way.

              1. I sure hope Falin won't be spreading THAT story on her travels...

                1. Nah, that's more of story Laios would tell...

                  1. Not the best ice breaker when talking with the dwarf king who, in dwarf fashion, is entirely oblivious to the happenings on the world so takes it a 100% face value.

Laios gets the title of "of the Loose Toungue" in Melini proper.

                    1. Was that before or after your court mage almost ended the world?

                      1. I wonder if at some point "normal" people just start wondering if Laios is fucking with them. Like, surely, his adventures cannot be **this** outrageous, right???? He cannot be THIS socially inept, he's a king!

He must be playing some 5D chess with us.

                        1. Laios isn't playing 5D chess, he is eating the pieces whenever his opponent looks away.

                          1. He wrote in his Fursona diary that he had the capability to eat the other player's pieces during his turn and that's how he beat Magnus Lionsen at chess.

                            1. He convinced Magnus Lionsen to play by his modified rules. Magnus Lionsen failed to read that the rules allow him to eat pieces and was very surprised as a a result.

P.s Magnus Lionsen sounds like a fantasy name written by someone who's trying too hard.

                              1. Magnus Lionsen is a fantasy name for a guy who's entire design is just lion heads, lion pelts and is the general/king of the enemy army that he calls his pride.

                                1. I know fantasy settings that would do something like that.

                                  1. If I was hurried by a deadline and didn't have time to review everything in my brain 100x over, I may take those shortcuts. Writting the bang fic at least gave me a sense of understanding for how some parts of some stories end up feeling in your face or half-baked.

                                    1. It isn't even a shortcut, the setting I was talking about is just over-the-top and somewhat on the nose.

                                      1. Semi-parodic settings like Warhammer make it hard to guess what's a shortcut, what's a joke, and what's something that we should take semi-seriously. Parrt of the charm, unless I'm missing the kind of setitng you're talking about.

                                        1. That's what I was talking about.

                                          1. Which, to be fair, I'd think Dungeon Meshi sorta fits into this semi-parodic setting mold. Maybe. Like the more the story developed the more it felt like an actual fantasy setting. But there's this undercurrent of silliness to it. I'm not sure where the line is really.

                                            1. Good point. I'm not sure myself.

                                              1. My conclusion is more that the story straddles the line and hops to one side or the other depending on the scene. Which may be the hardest way to handle it competently, but I gues that's why we're here
